wild-things-206x300I saw it. I loved it. But probably because I am emo. It’s definitely not a children’s movie. It’s dark and somewhat philosophical. Aesthetically it’s absolutely beautiful and the soundtrack is fantastic.

On a side note, there are 3 things that people notice about me immediately:

1. I sleep a lot.

2. I watch a lot of TV.

3. I like emo things.

G20 In Pittsburgh!

Tonight I walked 2 blocks from my apartment to get some snacks and dinner and found policemen patroling everywhere.  Aaaand, apparently there have been a number of protests in the Oakland area. The window to a local restaurant was boarded up, and the owners had taped a sign to it reading, “Dear protestors, you decided to destroy the window of the only mom and pop restaurant in the area. You forgot to destroy Starbucks though. Assholes.”

Apparently this also happened: http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-333226

Fortunately I was not there.

Hmm I’m not sure why I decided to post this. You can find this easily online…

celebrities are people too

To reiterate all the notable celebrity happenings this week.

1. Patrick Swayze died. Boo :( RIP. Perhaps you will come back to your wife through an African American fortune teller and dance to unchained melody.

2. What is it with celebrities losing their cool. Yea whatever I get that they’re “people too” but come on. It’s their job to project a certain image which means when they’re in the spotlight they need to remain professional.

Kanye has now epitomized “deuschbag” by, in Katy Perry’s words, “stepping on a kitten”

Dude, did yo mama not teach you right? Have some class and tact. Maybe you shouldn’t have dropped out of college.

And Serena. Man some people need to just get over themselves. You can’t win ‘em all.

Ok now another note, on the extensive media coverage of all of this. Yes,  I do think it is a little overdone but it’s also interesting how much we take pleasure in seeing famous people mess up or lose their cool, just so we have someone to criticize and have a reason to feel better about ourselves.

This Week on The Hills

For the full episode, go here.

Brody is a butthead and cheats on his girlfriend Jayde the Playmate, with Audrina.

Jayde and her gal pals unleash their fury (think an entourage of Playmates baring their commercially whitened fangs, and glaring underneath thick layers of mascara and eyeliner) on “poor” Audrina at various overpriced night clubs with bottle service and MTV cameras all around, with Brody sandwiched between, poised as the “innocent middleman.” He keeps telling Audrina, “She’s upset! She has a right to be upset!” with Jayde screaming, “I’m going to punch her face the next time I see her! Why do you care enough to say hello to her?!” into his ear… like some whipped pansy.

Finally when Lauren takes Brody out to dinner and attempts to offer unbiased wisdom, she tells him he should at least apologize to Audrina for being caught in this huge mess (O.K. yes she was in the wrong but hey she wasn’t in a relationship at the time and Brody was the one who let it happen).. I mean, she’s his friend after all. But he responds, “My feelings will lie with Jayde, always.” At which point Lauren reinforces the sentiment, “Sometimes we sacrifice friendship for the ones we love.”

This last statement is sadly, so true. (don’t worry people, I’m not really taking life tips from The Hills) Regardless of how good friends you are with somebody, I still think the person will always, without a doubt, side with their romantic partner over you, even if you’re right… so sad, so true. All those hormones and such.

I will be over 250 K in debt within the next 4 years. Apparently the divorce rate is also highest among female doctors; risk increases if a.) I get married in medical school and b.) I go into psychiatry. So I can’t get married within the next 4 years but I also can’t get married soon after that because I will already owe the cost of like Braniston’s wedding without having actually experienced it, and I refuse to get married in the House of Elvis in a disgusting tulle-d out dress from the thrift store. So this means I will be over 30 by the time I’m married. But still over 200 K in debt so I can’t really have babies unless they eat dirt and live in a shack. But the chances of a woman having a down syndrome baby significantly increases after 30 (when I say increases, I mean increases exponentially, not even linearly). I guess I could get IVF but that’s expensive which brings me back to the debt.

So… in summary I’m giving up the next 8 years of my life to be an old lady bride with some grungy chinatown wedding with bad food, live in a box, and have developmentally impaired children.

In a forwarded email from my friend:

They’re Back! Those wonderful Church Bulletins! Thank God for church ladies with typewriters. These sentences (with all the BLOOPERS) actually appeared in church bulletins or were announced in church services:

The sermon this morning: ‘Jesus Walks on the Water.’ The sermon tonight: ‘Searching for Jesus.’

————————–

Ladies, don’t forget the rummage sale… It’s a chance to get rid of those things not worth keeping around the house. Bring your husbands.

————————–

Remember in prayer the many who are sick of our community. Smile at someone who is hard to love. Say ‘Hell’ to someone who doesn’t care much about you.

———————————

Don’t let worry kill you off – let the Church help.

————————–

Miss Charlene Mason sang ‘I will not pass this way again,’ giving obvious pleasure to the congregation.

For those of you who have children and don’t know it, we have a nursery downstairs.

————————–

Next Thursday there will be tryouts for the choir. They need all the help they can get.
